Honoring the Legacy of Tad Taube

Dear valued community,

With deep sadness, we mark the passing of visionary philanthropist and former Koret Board President Tad Taube on Saturday, September 13, 2025. Tad was a leader in Bay Area philanthropy and served as President of the Koret Foundation Board for over three decades. He was instrumental in defining Koret’s vision and deepening our commitment to our grantees.

Forced to flee his native Poland in 1939 when he was eight years old, he eventually settled in the Bay Area after attending Stanford University. He built a successful career in business and real estate before turning his attention to philanthropy.

During Tad’s tenure as Koret Board President, the foundation expanded its support for arts, culture, and education, as well as food programs helping the most vulnerable. Simultaneously, we sought to foster a vibrant Jewish community in the Bay Area and across the globe by strengthening programs and community institutions. Through deep relationships with grantees, we have ensured the continued success of countless organizations, contributing to a stronger, more interconnected Bay Area.

Even after decades of creating positive change in the Bay Area, Tad never lost sight of his heritage. His contributions to the Jewish community in Poland have created an enduring legacy, honoring the memories of those lost in the Holocaust and the continued survival of the Polish Jewish community. In 2017, Jewish Family and Children’s Services honored Tad with the Distinguished Humanitarian Service award, in acknowledgement of his incredible efforts on behalf of the global Jewish community.

Our board joins me in celebrating the life and legacy of our friend and colleague, Tad Taube. May his memory be a blessing.

With gratitude,

Jeffrey Farber, Chief Executive Officer
