At San Francisco Opera, rehearsals are now underway for the world premiere of Antony and Cleopatra, the latest drama from preeminent American composer John Adams. Opening September 10, the opera tells the story of a romance that would topple the world order—splintering alliances and sparking war on the Mediterranean. SF Opera’s all-star cast includes Grammy winner Gerald Finley as Mark Antony and Egyptian-born soprano Amina Edris as Cleopatra, performing under the baton of music director Eun Sun Kim. See them on stage when the curtain rises on Antony and Cleopatra this September, as part of San Francisco Opera’s historic 100th season.
