A new Sacred Space for Congregation Rodef Sholom and the Marin Jewish community
Rodef Sholom, a Reform congregation in San Rafael, California, is constructing a new synagogue. The original building, 60 years old, had become too small for the growing congregation’s needs, physically, spiritually, and communally. The expanded facilities include a courtyard to be shared with campus partners Osher Marin JCC and the Brandeis Marin K–8 day school. The outdoor space—with an amphitheater, garden, and chapel—will offer an inviting setting for communal activities. Rodef Sholom’s indoor spaces, all with enhanced security, will provide a flexible array of multi-use rooms for youth and family activities, holiday celebrations, simcha, and broader community events.
Sacred Space is a $31 million capital campaign, and as of January 2023, $29.5 million had already been raised. Rodef Sholom anticipates a certificate of occupancy in time for Hanukkah 2023.
