Chief Financial Officer

Marlena joined the Koret Foundation in 2014. She oversees the finance team in maintaining fully-integrated financial information and monitoring current and projected payouts for the Foundation’s commitments as a whole. Marlena works closely with the director of programs and CEO.

Marlena brought to Koret more than 15 years of experience in diverse aspects of investment management. She began her career in auditing at PricewaterhouseCoopers in their investment management practice. Her particular expertise is in evaluating the overall flow of information, and then streamlining operations and improving communication.

Marlena holds a Masters in Accounting, with a Certification in Finance, from Golden Gate University. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of California at Davis, where she majored in managerial economics. A Certified Public Accountant, Marlena is the daughter of immigrants who placed great emphasis on education. The Koret Foundation’s education grants have particular resonance for her. She has also found additional parallels between Jewish values and Asian culture.

Marlena is proficient in both Mandarin and Cantonese. She travels to a new country every year and finds that this always leaves her feeling rejuvenated. She returns with gratitude for the experience and appreciation for her own circumstances. Marlena also enjoys yoga and hiking.
