Jewish Community Programs

Since its founding, the Koret Foundation has been rooted in the Jewish community, and its grantmaking reflects that commitment today. To further our goal to create a vibrant, connected Bay Area Jewish community now and in the future, we focus on three key strategic areas:

  • To encourage opportunities for Jews of all ages to deepen and enrich their Jewish identity and be meaningfully involved in Jewish life
  • To promote positive views of Israel in order to eliminate new and old forms of anti-Semitism
  • To sustain and grow key Jewish institutions

Our Initiative on Jewish Peoplehood encourages engagement in Jewish life and has energized the cultural scenefrom museums and Jewish Community Centers (JCCs) to college campuses and family services. Our Initiative to Combat Anti-Semitism is advancing the discussion about this sensitive issue at universities, in public policy, and in the media. We also support research and education in Israel, viewing the Middle East’s only democracy as a vital partner for U.S. security interests. Joseph Koret cared deeply about his Jewish culture and heritage, and his values continue to thrive through our funding strategies both locally and abroad.
