Israel
Our interest in Israel is two-fold: We strongly support the Middle East's only democracy as a vital partner for U.S. security interests, and we envision a future in which Israel can shift her focus from precaution to prosperity – a hallmark of a truly thriving democracy. Watch our video on Koret in Israel.
Israel Advocacy
In the Bay Area, our advocacy efforts focus on college campuses, where students and faculty are actively working to combat the prejudice that can often be found there. In addition, we help to fund community expressions of support for the Jewish state through books, lectures, film, and the arts. Our goals are to ensure a bright future for Israel as a stronghold of democracy in the Middle East, to counteract misconceptions, and to build a thriving free-market economy.
By advocating for Israel and educating Americans about the Israelis and their contributions to the world, Koret further demonstrates and advances its commitment nationwide. Particularly on college campuses, where Israel is often assailed, Koret has made some of its most strategic and powerful grants, including:
- supporting the Campus Watch program, through the Middle East Forum think tank, that reviews Middle East Studies on American college campuses and alerts university stakeholders to issues and incidents of concern;
- supporting the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), which monitors and translates Arabic, Farsi, and Hebrew government and media reports into English; and
- funding the Institute for Jewish and Community Research to study anti-Semitism and anti-Israelism in the educational system.
